Giant tools

How can tool design reduce physical strain for operators in large-scale kitchens?

The Giant Tools range was developed for operators preparing thousands of meals per day in central kitchens. The goal was to improve comfort, reduce fatigue, and prevent musculoskeletal disorders (TMS).

Through observations, interviews, and journey mapping, we identified high-strain tasks. Prototypes were refined in 3D and tested to ensure ergonomic shapes, materials, and workflows, making tools safer and more comfortable in demanding environments.

Methods and Tools: field observations & contextual interviews, user journey & pain point mapping, ergonomic prototyping (3d + physical mockups), user testing & iteration to validate comfort and efficiency, moodboards & material research
